Constructing authentic learning experiences
A variety of factors, including individual emotions and the composition of the learning environment, can affect student learning in STEM fields. This virtual session explores the roles of two emotional components in education: motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic) as a driver for lifelong learning and confidence as a foundation for effective communication. This event also examines the incorporation of hands-on elements, such as genuine research experiences and demonstrations with models, to promote knowledge retention and metacognition. These studies are important for implementing evidence-based practices proven to promote student learning.
